I have been having a pain in the middle of my chest. I have been to the doctor and had all kinds of tests ran but no answer to where the pain is coming from? Could it be cancer?
I heard that when someone has cancer they feel no pain
Could a nagging pain be cancer?
What is the difference between metastasized brain cancer and cancer that started in the brain?
My mother had lung cancer a year ago and although it has not returned, she now has a tumor in her brain the size of a dime. It is cancerous …. so what is the prognosis and what is the difference between this type of brain cancer (where it originated in the lungs) and brain cancer that originiates in the brain. Also, what is the prognosis?
Cancer originating in a particular organ for the first time is called Primary neoplasm.
Metastasis is its secondary spread through blood or lymph.
Prognosis really depends on histological type of the cancer but metastasis generally requires more aggressive treatment in the form of chemo & radio because it is wide-spread.
My best wishes are with your mother and you as her family in the battle against this cancer.
how long will chemotherapy help stage 4 cancer patients?
how long will it help to prolong the patient's life typically? i know it differs from person to person, but what is the range?
Well my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and after chemo and radiation one tumor is gone and the other shrunk to almost nothing and is considered dead. She is doing great and hopefully will stay that way for quite a while. There is no cure for lung cancer so it is not possible but expected to return. We just hope we can stay ahead of it for now. Typically if treatment works life expectancy has be up to 5 years.
Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Gender Differences
The UCSD School of Medicine and the Diana Padelford Binkley Foundation bring you the newest installments of this innovative series targeted at successfully managing pain in women. Studies show women often receive inadequate care as pain manifests uniquely in the sexes and requires distinctive treatment strategies. In this program, Margaret Chesney, Ph.D., Deputy Director, National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, updates us on gender differences in the use of complementary and alternative medicine. What is Chelation therapy? How would I find supportive MD of complimentary/alternative therapies?
I am sick of meds… I am 50 and am having success with natural energies, nutritional suppliments etc. If I ever have to be hospitalized, I would want a supportive MD. I have talked with others about my desires, and am told that If MDs in this area of FL are open, they lose credibility and have even left the area to practice. Any suggestions?
I have a couple of suggestions. First, are there any Naturopathic Physicians (N.D.s) in Florida? These are excellent doctors who specialize in alternative therapies, including chelation.
Second, you can find a list of qualified doctors in Functional Medicine (including N.D.s, D.C.s, D.O.s and M.D.s) at the website for "The Institute of Functional Medicine". They are located in Gig Harbor, Washington and have trained doctors from all over the country (including many doctors from leading medical schools). You can find their website by doing a web-search. Doctors that take a Functional Medicine approach focus on finding and treating the cause of ill health, rather than using drugs to mask symptoms. These doctors have to be 'masters' of biochemistry and physiology, which makes them 'rare' in the medical world. They can be miracle workers for patients with chronic health issues.
Hope this helps you. Best wishes and good luck.
If a female has ovarian cancer and has lower back pain, cramps like a period without a period?
bloating, blood in the urine, ect like me, why does she get a stabbing pain around where the kidneys are? Like a sharp stabbing pain lasting for about 10-20 seconds around where the kidneys are. It has gone away now. But could this mean the cancer is spreading? I get a feeling it s. But I need to know your opionion about this. Would a ovarian cancer patient get stabbing pains that last for a short time around near the kidneys? Urgent advice.
You've been repeatedly told to go see a doctor. You need to be clinically examined to determine what is going on. Your description is too vague and does not correspond to ovarian cancer. With early cancer you don't have any symptoms. Call your doctor.
It is unnecessary to ask the same question multiple times. You have now asked this at least 15 or more times.

How do I plan a cancer walk for my school?
Next year, I want to plan to have a cancer walk that students can participate in, but I have never been in charge of planning a cancer walk before. What advice do you have? Who can I get in contact with to do this? Should other people be allowed into the cancer walk? Should we put together teams to walk that day? Any suggestions are appreciated and will be taken seriously.
dink2925, I am perfectly aware of the way cancer has affected and changed our society. I have many loved ones who have been diagnosed with the cancer throughout my 14 years of existence, and I have decided to raise awareness to this and to do raise money to help provide treatment for these people. I am doing something about a major illness in the United States, something that I believe is just as important as picking up trash on the side of the road.
call your local cancer foundation. they have all the answers
What side effects should one expect with chemotherapy for stage-4 colon cancer?
My loved one has stage-4 colon cancer. They removed 18" of his colon, but it has spread to the liver and throughout his abdomen. Please help me to know what to expect. He starts chemo tomorrow. Any knowledge would be most appreciated.
that depends on the chemo regiment that he's put on, but I'll agree with fatigue and nausea being the most common side effects.
Is there an herbal or alternative therapy to use instead of heparin?
I have a friend that wants to know if there are any alternatives to heparin. She keeps having miscarriages. The only time she was able to carry a pregnancy to term was when she was on heparin. However, her doctors seem to think it is unrelated and will not put her back on heparin.
She believes it was the heparin that allowed her to have her first child. She has had many, many miscarriages. I believe the number is over 25 at least. When she was taking the heparin, she was able to not abort. I don't know if is a coincidence or not.
Yes, there are alternatives that are natural. She should check with a naturopath or her nearest good health foods store that sells herbs and suppliments.
She also needs to make sure she is not eating unhealthy and exercising and if she is over weight, she needs to lose the extra weight.
What is the difference between alternative schools and special schools?
Many people always assume that only special needs students go to alternative schools when it's not true. Isn't it against the "least restrictive environment" to send special needs students to the alternative school? Shouldn't they go to a special school since it meets their needs? Alternative schools don't support special needs students well. They don't have speech or self-contained classes. What kind of parent would send their own special needs child to the alternative school that doesn't even meet their needs? The special school would be more appropriate.
I thought alternative schools were schools that were nontraditional. I thought they provided a choice for students. Students aren't forced to go to alternative schools. It's something that they chose hence the name.
You are correct with your statement that parents with a special needs child should NOT send their child to an alternative school.
Alternative schools are for those children that are at an impass and the public school system is looking for a way to put that child out of their school system. They explain it to the parents as a "way of helping their child" when in reality, it helps them…the school. The school will earn an A grade because they have less "special education" students in their school, who may not pass all the state tests…ie: FCATS.
Special needs students should be placed in the public schools and have IEPs in place that met all the childs individual needs, as documented by their parents, teachers, physicians and social workers, physical therapist, speech therapists etc.
Great question. Blessings, Patti
